On August 8, 2025, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree No. 221/2025/NĐ-CP, granting a limited-term visa exemption for foreign nationals in special categories who contribute to socio-economic development.
Eligible individuals include guests of Party and State leaders, scholars, experts, investors, cultural and artistic professionals, and other special cases.
Holders of the special visa exemption card (electronic or chip-based) are exempted from visas for up to five years, with multiple entries and a maximum stay of 90 days per visit.
The policy aims to attract global talent and high-quality resources, fostering Vietnam’s sustainable growth and international cooperation.
